Hi I'm Melissa
The self-coined 'selfie celebrant', lover of French champagne and reality TV. My couples would describe me as fun-loving, relaxed and easy going. My friends would probably add sassy and bubbly. Did someone say bubbly?
I really do love my job
I am so lucky to have the best job in the world. My favourite part is connecting with a couple to a point where we feel like we've known each other for years, that familiarity is the secret ingredient to a truly memorable ceremony. I'm often asked if I'm part of the family, or how long I've known the couple. That is the best validation I can receive.
If you're looking for a celebrant that will deliver the formalities in a way that feels laid-back, warm and personalised, then you and me were meant to be.
How the magic happens
When it comes to planning the perfect ceremony, there are a few little things that can go a long way.
I always start with a face to face catch up with my potential clients - often over a bubbles (because, let's be honest, bubbles make everything more fun). If we hit off, we meet again to sign the first of the legal documents. That's when we start to discuss the style of ceremony that you REALLY want.
This could include readings (not necessarily religious) from your friends and family. A karaoke rendition of your favourite song, or even committing to each other through interpretive dance. Whatever! It's about creating a moment that feels special, fun and romantic - whatever that means to you.
Once we've got an idea of the style of ceremony you want, I go away and draft a ceremony tailored to what you'd imagined. Then you review it. Together, we perfect it.
Last step before the big day is the rehearsal - which is something I insist on. It's the final catch up and the last chance to ensure everything is going to run smoothly. We'll sign a little more paperwork, cross the 'i's and dot the 't's. And anyone can come along, whether it's just the three of us, or the whole bridal party.
On the big day, I arrive an hour early to liaise with other suppliers and ensure everything is set up to deliver your day, your way.
